About RTI.SaveYourIndia.Org
Vision
Our vision is to see India's citizens actively involved in the functioning of their country's democracy.
Mission
Our mission is to educate, empower and enable Indian citizen to exercise proactive oversight over the functioning of their governments by utilizing the powers bestowed upon them by the Right to Information Act 2005.
To this end, we aim to do the following.
- Create and maintain a centralized repository of information obtained by using the RTI Act. This serves the following purposes:
- Prevents duplicate effort (both in the part of citizens and government) when multiple people ask for the same data
- Provides an insight into what others are interested in and encourages others to get involved
- People can collaborate and use their time and effort in a more efficient manner
- Use of RTI will not be limited to activists and NGOs
- Provide a way for people to apply online. This reduces the barrier of entry where netizens can focus on the application rather than printing it, walking to the post office and mailing it.
Amit Varma's India Uncut article, Turbocharging RTI, presents exactly what we had in mind, and needless to say, does it eloquently.
